Community Update - Crime Meeting, Arrests and Halloween Preparations |
||
Good afternoon all,
Thank you to everyone who attended our Crime and Antisocial Behaviour meeting last night. We hope you found the session informative and that it provided an opportunity to raise any concerns or questions. For those who were unable to attend due to the football match, we completely understand—you’re loyal to the club, even if the result wasn’t quite what you’d hoped for! We’ll aim to avoid future scheduling conflicts next time so everyone has the chance to join us.
While the meeting was underway, PC 29228 Wetherill acted immediately upon receiving a report of shoplifting at the Co-Op on Tangier Road. With the assistance of our District Policing Team, two female suspects were arrested on suspicion of theft. Further checks revealed one individual was wanted in connection with a robbery, and the other was found in possession of Class B drugs. Both were subsequently arrested for these additional offences and remain in custody while enquiries continue.
As mentioned during the meeting, Halloween is fast approaching. Each year, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary receives calls from residents who have been frightened by groups and individuals trick or treating. To support those who prefer not to take part, I took a number of “Sorry, no trick or treating” posters for display in windows or on doors (see attached image).
Posters are currently available at Beeny’s Café, and we’ll be dropping off additional copies at Alderman Lacey Library (Tangier Road) and St Cuthbert’s Church (Lichfield Road) over the weekend. If you’d like posters delivered to another location, please reply to this message and let us know. Alternately, you should be able to print the attached at home.
Kind regards, | ||
